2 years is a short time for a blended family. We have 6 girls – 4 hers and 2 mine…. a little closer in ages though. There was a trust issue that we had, because their Dad left… and on my side because I left my daughters mother. We found that family meeting did work for us. We used a structure meeting format on a weekly basis. The children did grumble a bit but once they got into the meeting they really enjoyed it and now as adult children they look back on those meetings as one of their best memories.
We also met individually with each child so that they had our undivided attention to talk about whatever they wanted.

I’ve been the step mom in a blended family for 8 yrs, I have two, he has two. We have tried everything, the only difference, each of our kids don’t have a problem voicing their likes and dislikes, which causes problems. This life, relationship is a daily job, we have really good days, and really bad days. Will it ever get any easier? I don’t know yet. I wish there was a blended family anonymous that I could go to weekly and hear stories of other mom’s that are going through this, sometimes I feel alone in this, but I know I am not.

I feel for you on this one! My children are 6, 5, and 4 years old (then there’s my baby but he’s off the hook for awhile!). I can’t even get them to bring their plates over to the counter! Honestly, you would think it’s the least they could do after we’ve slaved for hours making them a delicious meal! I know, I’m daydreaming, hehe! Good luck
